Research Library

The Crook County Genealogical Society has now merged with Crook County Historical Society at the A.R. Bowman Memorial Museum. The Research Library at the Bowman Museum consists of books, manuscripts, magazines, newspapers, scrapbooks, and microfiche.

The Research Library's primary focus is Crook County, Oregon local history and genealogy. There are many unique materials available on various Crook County families, including information on the 7,000+ family names listed here: Family Names. There is also a wealth of information on other counties in Oregon, research materials for all States of the Union, as well as information about other countries.

Members and non-members have access to all research materials in the library. The library is a convenient place for you to conduct your own research, with guidance from knowledgeable volunteers.

Walk-in Research at the Genealogy Library is dependent upon staff and/or volunteer availability. If the Research Library cannot be accessed during the time of your visit, or if you would like to schedule a time in advance, please fill out the Crook County Historical Society Research Request form below to schedule your visit. The Collections Care Manager will contact you within two weeks.
