SUMMARY:New Documentary Unspoken Grit: Crook County Rides into Town June 20 at Bowman Museum
DESCRIPTION:A new kind of western story is coming to the screen. On Friday\, June 20 at 6:00 PM\, the Bowman Museum will host the premiere of Unspoken Grit: Crook County – Part I\, the first installment in a four-part video documentary series. \nThis community-driven film digs deep into the dust and soul of Oregon’s high desert\, sharing the real-life stories of those who’ve weathered it\, worked it\, and called it home. \nRooted in tradition and rich with personal history\, this locally voiced documentary captures the true grit of a community built on perseverance. Through oral histories and firsthand accounts\, Unspoken Grit brings to life the voices of longtime Crook County residents. These are not just stories\, they are legacies\, handed down like well-worn saddles\, bearing the weight of time\, toil\, and tradition. \n“In a place where hard work is a way of life\, we want to honor the people who deserve it\, those who might not feel as seen as times change and let them know their stories matter\,” said Chiyanna Brooks\, director and producer of the film. “This documentary is a tribute to those who say they have nothing to tell yet have so much to share if you’re willing to listen.” \nSteeped in the rich history of Crook County\, the film offers an intimate look at the character and quiet strength forged in small towns and open country. The premiere will feature a screening of Part I\, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker. Light refreshments will be provided\, and all are welcome to attend. \nEvent Details\nWhat: Unspoken Grit: Crook County – Documentary Premiere\nWhen: Friday\, June 20\, 2025 – 6:00 PM\nWhere: Bowman Museum\, 246 N Main St\, Prineville\, OR\nCost: Free and open to the public \nFor more information\, contact Unspoken Grit at unspokengritllc@gmail.com.
