June Jaeger Courtesy of The Round House Foundation

A fifth-generation Oregonian born in Prineville and raised in Redmond, Jaeger draws deeply from the landscapes of Central Oregon — its rugged terrain, shifting light, wildlife, and open space. Horses, water, trees, and stone recur throughout the exhibit, rendered with remarkable dimensionality and motion, inviting viewers to step into the scene rather than simply observe it.

Jaeger works almost entirely by hand, designing and constructing each piece without the use of computers. Layered fabrics, intricate stitching, and carefully controlled color function much like brushstrokes, creating perspective, texture, and atmosphere. The result is textile art that feels alive — grounded in place, yet expressive and interpretive.

Her work has been featured in regional, national, and international exhibitions and has earned numerous awards. In addition to her artistic practice, Jaeger has spent 45 years teaching textile arts, sharing her deep respect for craftsmanship, patience, and creative process with generations of students.

Soul of the Land offers visitors an immersive experience — a visual conversation between fabric and landscape, tradition and innovation, memory and motion. Each piece reflects not only what the land looks like, but how it feels.
