Traveling Exhibit from the Oregon Historical Society Opens October 7

The Bowman Museum is proud to announce the opening of Frances Stilwell: Oregon’s Botanical Landscape, a traveling exhibit from the Oregon Historical Society, on display in the Belknap Exhibit Center from October 7 through December 31, 2025.

This stunning exhibit highlights the vibrant and diverse plant life of Oregon through the art of Frances Stilwell, a celebrated artist and advocate for Oregon’s natural heritage. Combining fine art with botanical science, Stilwell’s work offers visitors a unique perspective on the landscapes and flora that define our state.

“Stilwell’s art captures the beauty and complexity of Oregon’s ecosystems,” said Sean Briscoe, Executive Director of the Bowman Museum. “We are thrilled to partner with the Oregon Historical Society to bring this exhibit to Prineville.”

The exhibition includes detailed paintings, field sketches, and interpretive panels that connect visitors with Oregon’s botanical story. It invites audiences of all ages to appreciate the artistry of the natural world and deepen their understanding of the state’s ecological diversity.

Frances Stilwell: Oregon’s Botanical Landscape is generously sponsored by the Oregon Historical Society and will be available to the public during regular museum hours through the end of the year.
