Join us at Bowman Museum for an engaging evening of Oregon history as author and historian Glenn Voelz presents The Civilian Conservation Corps in Oregon: A Living Legacy on Thursday, November 5, at 6 p.m. at the Bowman Museum in Prineville.
Voelz will explore the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a federal program established during the Great Depression that put young men to work on conservation and public lands projects. The program played an important role in developing infrastructure, improving natural resources, and shaping the landscapes and public lands enjoyed by Oregonians today. The lecture will examine the CCC’s contributions in Oregon and its lasting impact.
Voelz is a Central Oregon-based author, historian, and retired U.S. Army colonel. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he served in military intelligence and leadership roles around the world, including assignments at the Pentagon, the White House, and NATO Headquarters. He has published more than a dozen books and journal articles, and his recent writing focuses on Oregon history. Voelz also serves on the board of the Deschutes County Historical Society and the Deschutes Historical Museum.
The lecture is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend and learn more about this important chapter in Oregon’s history.
